1. On Treating Each Other
– We are a family
– Treat each other with respect
– Put yourself in others’ shoes
– Accept differences and diversity
– Call each other by name, and not “Boss”
2. On Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
– SOP is our DNA
– We are a professionally run company with proper SOPs in place
– SOPs should always be adhered to, regardless of whether it is peak or non-peak period
– Items that are not documented in SOP, we don’t blame the staff for not knowing
– Feedback to management if you think certain procedures should be added to enhance our SOP
3. On Quality
– Quality is the key to success
– If a product is not up to our standard, do not serve to customer
– Continuous improvement on product quality and service
4. On Communication
– Flat Hierarchy
– Open-door policy
– All communication should be in English for common understanding. If language other than English is used, it should be translated to English if there are others around.
– We don’t need perfect English as long as the other party can understand.
– Feedback on your workload is welcome, we are always open to discussion
– Management is not always right, respectfully challenge decisions when you disagree or if you feel things can be done better
– Effective communication, keep team well-informed.
– Be specific in your communication.
– Put yourself in other’s shoes.
– Try to think what will other people understand/feel/interpret if they receive your message.
5. On Career Path
– Results matter the most, not the time spent or seniority
– Results first, reward later
– Work smart, work hard and have fun at work
– How much you will be rewarded depends on how much you can help the company to profit - increase sales, decrease cost, or improve efficiency.
– Earn yourself to be an OMI Partner
6. On Company Politics
– Company politics are strictly not allowed
– Bad apples will be taken off immediately
7. On Making Mistakes
– Making a mistake the first time is acceptable
– Dare to admit, apologize, move on, and don’t repeat the same mistake twice
– Learn from your mistakes and understand the principle behind why the company does things differently so you will not make a similar mistake again.
8. On Customer Complaints
- We should be thankful to customer on the feedback. Instead of keeping quiet and not coming back, the customer decided to let us know.
- We (including Top Management) do not point fingers on any staff. Our objective is to identify and solve the issue.
- Follow the SOP - Handling Customer Complaint
9. On Efficiency and Prioritization
– Good time Management - Know what's important and solve it first

11. On Favouritism
– Staff who are related to management receive no special treatment
– To show that you are fair, you have to treat normal staff better than staff who are related to you.
12. On Training
– No such thing as “It’s common sense, the staff should know it”
– If the staff can’t perform a task well, we should reflect inwards first to confirm if our training was done well before blaming the staff
13. On Learning
- Continuously learn new things and always seek to improve themselves.
- Curious about new possibilities and act to explore them
14. On Working with Limited Resources
- Constraints breed resourcefulness, self-sufficiency, and invention.
- There are no extra points for growing headcount, budget size, or fixed expense
15. On Asking Questions
- Lead by asking questions
- Leaders operate at all levels, stay connected to the details, audit frequently, and are sceptical when metrics and actual results differ
- No task is beneath them

– Treat and respect others the way you would like to be treated and respected
– 80/20 Management. Hold on to the 20% most important task and delegate routine tasks to other staff
– Able to bond the team together
17. On Decision Making
– Explore all available options
– Assess all pros and cons based on the resources, timeline and risks at that point.
– Make decision based on elimination or shortlisting method
– Make decision based on which option is the best to the company, not which option is proposed by senior management
18. On Succession Planning
– To move to a higher position, you need to first be the best at your current role, then find and train someone to take over your current duties
– To have a peace of mind when you are on leave, you need to train someone to take over your roles when you are not around
19. On Talent Hunt
– Company needs talents to grow
– Hire someone smarter than you
– Recognize exceptional talent, and willingly move them throughout the organization
– Leaders develop leaders and take seriously their role in coaching others
20. On Price vs Quality
– If Quality are the same, choose the one with lower price
– If Prices are the same, choose the one with better quality
– If Quality is better but price is higher, assess whether the increase in quality is worth the increase in price
– Always do a blind test to determine if the higher priced item is worth the increased cost
